Prescription for change
New procedures for the grant and renewal of firearm and shotgun certificates came into force on 1 November. They will in affect all certificate holders but some more than others. They are a modified version of what was originally proposed by the Home Office in July 2019. I say modified because some of the original proposals were outrageous.
The system now being introduced should be workable but is unlikely to be of any real benefit to certificate holders, though it may marginally benefit public safety.
