Wild fungi warnings are deadly serious

The aspect of foraging that must, above all others, engage our minds and efforts is: how not to poison yourself. The solution is simple: never eat a wild mushroom unless you are completely sure of its name and subsequently check that it is edible. Quite how you do this is for another time, but for now my task is merely to convince you of the necessity of this approach by instilling a healthy sense of terror.
