Cyc: Could you tell us a bit about Bontrager’s history and its relationship with Trek?

Bontrager Cycles was founded in Santa Cruz, California in 1980 by Keith Bontrager. His background was in motocross before he became interested in the newly emerging sport of mountain biking. Keith is a physicist by training and a natural inventor and tinkerer at heart. He built his first mountain biking frame in that same year and became a pioneer of the sport and developed some of the first lightweight yet durable mountain bike components.
