Double Trouble

THE STREETFIGHTER, A MOTORCYCLE that fuelled the war in the hyper naked class, a 200-plus-hp superbike-derived motor, winglets, and no fairing. But just when you thought the Streetfighter has a bit too much, Ducati have dropped yet another bomb in the form of the Streetfighter V4 SP.

Adorned in Ducati’s winter test livery, the Streetfighter V4 SP is three kilograms lighter than the Streetfighter V4 S. The reduction in its weight comes in the form of carbon-fibre wheels, winglets, and a front fender. Like the Panigale V4 R, this hypernaked also gets a brushed aluminium tank that amplifies its appeal.

The wet-clutch set-up has been done away with for a new STM-EVO SBK dry clutch unit, while the Brembo Stylema calipers have been replaced with Stylema Rs along with a MCS 19.21 front brake pump.

At its heart, the rowdy Streetfighter V4 SP retains its 1,103-cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 that delivers 208 hp and 123 Nm. However, if these power figures aren’t enough bragging rights for you, Ducati will be happy to throw in the full-system Akrapovič exhaust system for a few extra bucks, pushing its power output to 220 hp. While the motorcycle will be made in a limited number, we hope to see at least one make its way to India.

What if you adore the Streetfighter but all of those 200 horses are a bit too much for you? Fret not, Ducati have also unveiled the Streetfighter V2 alongside the Streetfighter V4 SP. This new baby Streetfighter shares its underpinnings with the Panigale V2 and the aerodynamics with the big-boy Streetfighters.

The 955-cc, L-twin Superquadro motor pumps out 153 hp and 101.4 Nm, just like the Panigale V2; however, the Streetfighter V2 gets shorter ratios allowing for more usable power to be available on the streets.

On the electronics front, the Streetfighter V2 comes with the entire gamut of electronics from the Ducati stable — cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, bi-directional quickshifter, engine brake control, and riding modes. All of these can be toggled though a 4.3-inch full-colour TFT display.

While we have no confirmation about a launch date yet, we expect the Streetfighter V2 to make
