DUCATI MONSTER

Of all the bikes in this test, the Ducati Monster, has had the biggest overhaul for 2021. In fact, it’s a brand new bike from the ground up, with only the liquid-cooled 932cc motor from Ducati’s 900 Supersport bike the only thing recognisable from anywhere in the Ducati range from the previous year, let alone previous Monsters. Speaking of which, almost unnoticed and in quite the stealthiest of ways, Ducati has discontinued every single Monster from the line-up to leave just this one. Remember the 659, 797, 821 and 1200 Monsters? No, neither do we, so you’ll probably just have to take our word for it that they were there before and now they aren’t.

In fairness, the arrival of the Streetfighter V4 and more recently – as in right now – the Streetfighter V2, means it makes perfect sense for the reinvented and now only Monster to prop up Ducati’s range of naked bikes as the more affordable and less serious alternative. The current
