Petite Princeton paleontologist
Dear Editor, Mark Forsythe’s article in British Columbia History (Summer 2020) briefly mentioned Margaret Stoneberg’s eponymous rose fossil, Rosea Stonebergia.
Margaret Semple Stoneberg, neé McFarlane, was born in Renfrew, but her interests in regional history and paleontology brought her both joy and fame. She willingly donated both her time and money to the Princeton Museum. At BCHF conferences and council meetings she represented the organization, contributed articles about the Princeton area’s history, and served as Subscription Secretary, Recording Secretary, and Archivist. For her many years of service, she received an Honorary Life Membership in 1992.
