The future of fencing
Like many of the best ideas, the simple ones are often the most complex. A fence batten is ostensibly a straightforward bit of kit. Creating a more durable, but flexible, alternative has involved years of think tanking, research and development, but the result is worth the effort.
Interestingly, business founder Darryn Ross comes from a background of injection moulding and thermoforming – not at first glance the most natural fit for redesigning the wooden fence batten. The challenge came about after a conversation with a colleague as to how they could potentially replace wooden battens with an alternative product.
While the initial concept was made from metal, Ross' expertise in the plastics industry took the design down a different path and, after extensive research and trials, the iconic Styx Solutions Easy Batten was created. It offers a long-life alternative to a wooden batten and the fact no staples or tools are required for installation will come as sweet relief to many farmers and fencers.
