Switch Square Enix could hardly have made noise about the new RPG from Hiroyuki Ito, creator of the Active Time Battle system, and ; indeed, the game’s budget can’t have been much higher than its marketing spend. Yet this appears to be a masterclass in streamlined design. Ito’s spartan dungeoncrawler pares back the fluff, offering an absorbing and deeply tactical descent through a labyrinth represented by squares and numbers on weathered parchment – allowing your imagination to fill the gaps as your party steadily colours in those blank spaces.
