‘Originally the beams were covered with red bricks, but these were stripped and bleached, while the tiled floor was replaced with white floorboards which add light to the room. White walls, floors and sofa allow me to add interest with textures such as reclaimed wood and rattan. As the living room of our house was flanked by two small rooms on one side and a bar towards the kitchen on the other side, we knocked several walls down for an open-plan feel. ’
