Fallout from the ongoing pandemic has banjaxed our plans for a lavish no-expenses-spared Cyclist Awards bash. We’ve cancelled the venue, returned the Champagne and even donated the golden chainrings we intended to mount onto prize plinths to Alex Dowsett and his Hour record attempt – not that this did him much good, for all his heroic efforts in Mexico.
