Persuades Spotify to ditch shuffle option

Music superstar Adele has persuaded the streaming platform Spotify to remove the shuffle option on album pages so musicians’ songs are played in the order the artist intended. The Tottenham-born singer recently released her latest album, 30, which was an immediate worldwide hit. It sold more than 575,000 copies in the US in just three days and is on track to beat Abba’s record of 2021’s biggest first-week sales in the UK.

Last week, singer took to Twitter to say: “This was the only request I had in our everchanging industry! We don’t create albums with so much care and thought into our track listing for no reason. Our art tells a story and our stories should be listened to as we intended. Thank you Spotify for listening.”
