Fujifilm GFX 50S II

Price: £3,499/$3,999 (body only)

In September 2016, when Fujifilm launched its first medium format mirrorless camera, it certainly set out to impress. The GFX 50S camera featured a 51.4MP 43.8 x 32.9mm sensor, a removable electronic viewfinder, a tilting touchscreen and traditional exposure controls, similar to those on some of its APS-C format X-series mirrorless cameras. At £6,199/$6,499 (body only), its price tag was also worthy of note.

Today, however, the mirrorless camera market has moved on and we now have a selection of full-frame mirrorless cameras with high-resolution sensors. Fujifilm has also evolved the digital medium format market with a series of cameras, including the superb 102MP GFX 100S we reviewed in issue 241.

But with the GFX 50S II, Fujifilm has returned to one of its originally stated aims
