Euro thrillions
Early September saw the staging of the flagship Euro Finals Shootout at Santa Pod Raceway. With far fewer restrictions in place, the meeting went ahead pretty much as usual, and some spectacular racing ensued.
As is the norm, Thursday was test and tune day, albeit curtailed due to rain for a while in the afternoon, while morning drizzle on the Friday delayed track opening until early afternoon. Happily, though, spectators and racers enjoyed two full days of racing on the Saturday and Sunday.

Amidst the race classes were a number of exhibition runs and match races. The jet Funny Car exhibition passes saw Martin Hill run a best of 5.762 / 167.26 in and Roger Goring clock off a 6.053 / 257.68 in . Hill also ran the jet dragster to a 5.240 / 278.08. Not content with solo exhibition runs, the pair put on a couple of side-by-side shows, was closely contested by Goring’s 5.203 / 224.75 in .
