FRUIT AND VEG

TOP TIP

Divide mature rhubarb clumps to make new, more vigorous plants. Dig out the rootball and cut into several pieces with a spade. Ensure each has roots and at least two buds. Compost the old central part of the clump and replant the young outer parts.

Don’t forget

⃞ Weed and mulch around raspberry and blackberry plants to suppress weeds and provide nutrients for the plants over winter⃞ Keep winter crops like kale and other brassicas covered with netting⃞ Finish clearing old crops from your veg plot – put healthy plant material on the compost heap and bin anything else⃞ Sow onion seeds in modules filled with peat-free compost
