The moment I stepped off the footpath by Cape Reinga Lighthouse and into the clifftop flax, looking out at the ocean, I felt a huge weight lift from my shoulders. Which is funny, as I was carrying 14kg of gear on my back. But inside, the familiar heaviness of stress, expectation and all things future had blown away on the wind.
