It was 2017, and the Oscar-winning filmmaker behind the trilogy—and a huge Fab Four fan—had been offered the opportunity of a lifetime: Take the 57 hours of long-unseen footage that had gone into making that notoriously depressing 1970 Beatles music documentary and breathe new life into the story that, history tells us, exposed the straining seams that foretold the breakup of the most famous pop band, streaming over three nights on Disney+. Not only do the four get along, but their camaraderie is electric as it leads to the famed rooftop concert that would be their final live show together.
