The Swanscombe Peninsula is a mixture of marshlands, coastal habitats, wetlands and grasslands. Formerly home to a cement works and landfill pits, it is a classic wildlife-rich brownfield site and “one of the richest-known sites in England for invertebrates”, according to the Kent Wildlife
