THE initial Asian Art in London feast of dealers’ exhibitions, in 1998, was accompanied by auctions at only the four main London houses (five, if one adds Christie’s South Kensington). Nowadays, auctioneers are almost as numerous as dealers, and the fringe has expanded far beyond the capital to include Lyon & Turnbull in Edinburgh, Adam’s in Dublin and Nagel in Stuttgart. November opened with two notable collections, one at Bonhams, the other Sotheby’s, which had much in common.
