RETURN OF THE SALT
THE ICONIC LOCATIONS OF SAINT Mawes and the St Anthony peninsulas in the heart of Cornwall provided the setting for this year’s UK Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival, affectionately known as “The Salt”.
Covid caused the cancellation of the 2020 Festival, so the 2021 event, held over the weekend of September 16-19, was extra special for organisers Tim and Amelia Whitaker, and participants.
Held over a long weekend, the itinerary involving demonstrations, talks and gatherings on the first day and then the two days of competition. Key themes included a hands-on introduction to saltwater fly-fishing, skill sessions, and an opportunity for everyone to fish a friendly competition in a safe environment with a variety of topography and species, and to ensure catch and release and safe fish handling practices.
