elevision hasn’t always treated Irvine Welsh well. Channel 4’s was a ribald slice of tragic hilarity, while the mayhem of ITV4’s was simply uncategorisable; neither made it to a full series. Not so BritBox’s six-part drama acting as a sort-of prequel to his 2008 novel (itself a Still centred on the troubled soul of DI Ray Lennox (Dougray Scott), it focuses on the child abduction back in Edinburgh that proved so traumatic that he fled to Miami, where the book is set.
