was 13 years old when this came out. I’d heard about Sonic Youth through skateboarding videos and maybe friends’ older siblings. I think they liked the ‘fuck the world’ Sonic Youth, but this was super-hippy, really pretty Sonic Youth; it’s not so damaging and noisy like the earlier stuff, and I fell in love with it. got me into playing guitar outside of a Led Zeppelin context. I remember trying to play along to it and it didn’t make any sense, so I had to investigate further – it was cool to learn
