With her grandmother the Queen under doctor’s orders to rest, Lady Louise Windsor could assume a more prominent role as a member of the royal family when she turns 18 next Monday, 8 November. Indeed, her official transition to adulthood could see the Earl and Countess of Wessex’s daughter begin to help out at royal engagements and play a key part at the Platinum Jubilee celebration next year.
Until this year, Louise was rarely seen and never publicly heard, protected from the glare of the spotlight by her parents in their desire for her to lead a normal life at their Bagshot Park home in Surrey.
But when she appeared in September’s TV tribute to her grandfather the Duke of Edinburgh – the first time royal fans heard her gentle but confident voice – her gracious demeanour and quiet self assurance were a revelation.

Since then, Louise, who is 16th in line to the throne, has been described as the monarchy’s new “secret weapon”, a potential ambassador and budding asset for The Firm.
The teenager has even been listed among the UK’s most eligible and “sassy” singletons, alongside tennis champion Emma Raducanu and Scottish socialite Lady Lola Bute, in the society magazine Tatler’s Little Black Book.
