IT’S A ‘MARILYN’, which means its summit is between 1500 feet and 2000 feet. So it’s not high. But it is prominent for miles around, and there’s something about this fine hill that captures my heart.
A couple of weeks ago I went to the funeral, held on a perfect August day with blue sky clear and bright as childhood memory, at Trelystan church, an 11th-Century foundation on the Long Mountain, of a dear and lifelong friend of mine from my Manchester youth.
