Why You Should HUNT LATE SEASON WITH A Muzzleloader
Do you like frozen fingers and drippy noses? Wearing so many layers you look like a Packers nose tackle? Driving on roads slicker than a greased pig? Me, either. And yet, I often consciously put myself into that position for one simple reason – deer hunting during bitter, late-season weather can be the very best time of the year to both fill the freezer and waylay a whopper buck.
Better than the rut, you say? Oh, yeah. Here’s why. During the rut, bucks that you may be familiar with in your hunting area become extremely unpredictable. They are off chasing girls, taking excursions to who knows where outside their core area in search of love, and their movement patterns become erratic. If you have unlimited time and can sit on doe groups and/or in funnels day in and day out, sooner or later a mature buck will probably stroll by. Most of us don’t have that kind of time, though.
