‘Your behaviour defines you’

IT might seem obvious to say that Sir Rocco Forte is a creature of his hotels, but having interviewed him a few times recently, it’s a relief to be seeing him not over Zoom, but in the Dover Suite in Brown’s, London W1. A more gentlemanly setting is difficult to imagine. P. G. Wodehouse volumes line the shelves in the instantly recognisable Everyman editions, there’s a photograph of Churchill and The Queen on a vintage escritoire and everything breathes that particular kind of unobtrusive comfort for which his hotels are famous.
