Caring for your home away from home
I am a regular camper and take good care of my equipment, yet I experienced some damage recently after storing a rooftop tent outside my garage. It became infested with rats and was completely destroyed. This made me think about the best ways to care for your home away from home, when at home.
Post trip care
Before storing your camper, you need to think about your most recent trips. Did they include wading through water or deep mud? If so, it may be a good time to have the wheel bearings inspected as water may have seeped past the seals and got into the bearings. Storing the camper in this state means that you will most likely have an expensive repair bill when you use it again. You may even have a wheel bearing failure on the trip. While having the wheel bearings inspected, it is also a good idea to check the condition of the brake drums, brake shoes and suspension components.
