FACE MASKS
Blue Mountains City Council is providing reusable face masks to those in vulnerable and at risk groups in the community.
Council is again partnering with the Rapid Relief Team, who helped with the rollout of the Emergency Food boxes in mid-2020 as part of the Good Neighbour program.
The masks are reusable for up to 50 washes and aligns with Council’s focus on sustainability in all we do.
The face masks will be available and delivered to the doors of households that meet the criteria of the program.
All requests are being assessed on a case-by-case basis and are being prioritised based on those in greatest need.
HAZARDOUS WASTE TARGETED IN NEW CAMPAIGN
A new education campaign has been released by Blue Mountains City Council to raise awareness about the dangers hazardous waste poses to our community and World Heritage Area.
The six-month campaign – titled Hazardous waste… together we’ve got it sorted – provides information to residents, home renovators and home renovation businesses relating to: Types of hazardous waste; Disposing of hazardous waste correctly; Reporting illegal dumping; Protecting yourself and your family during do-it-yourself projects, and protecting your business.
The campaign has been produced as part of Council’s Enforceable Undertaking with SafeWork NSW.
The video will feature Social Change Activist Dr Holly Kaye-Smith and provides useful, easy-to-understand and up-to-date information about hazardous waste, including the safe handling and disposal of asbestos-containing materials.
