How do we make more while retaining the charm of the house?’ is the question that struck both the architect, Ben Vitale of Vitale Design, and Arent&Pyke, says the latter’s director Sarah-Jane Pyke. From this premise, both worked towards an outcome that would feel natural and connected to both the existing house and leafy outlook of the neighbouring Queens Park in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. Granted, a lot of designers posit this as their aim. Very few, however, get it right.
