9 PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA

WHAT THREE THINGS MUST FIRST-TIME VISITORS TO PHNOM PENH DO?

Firstly, you must visit the Royal Palace and the neighbouring landmarks along the riverside, not just for the sights, but also to taste the different local foods. There’s good traditional Cambodian noodles () near Wat Botum pagoda, south of the Royal Palace, or more common fried short noodles () and steamed chive cakes () north of the Royal Palace. It’s a great place to visit from late afternoon (around 3pm) until evening: people are jogging, older couples are dancing, kids are playing.
