Million Dollar BABIES
THE Crocker V-twin was to US pre-WW2 motorcycling what HRD-Vincent and Brough Superior V-twins were in the UK. Ultra-expensive, super exclusive and guaranteed that nothing was faster, less than 100 complete Crocker V-twin motorcycles were manufactured — no-one is exactly sure, some say as few as 65 — and who knows how many survive? Not many. Rarely traded, Crockers these days command astronomical sums at auction, up to a million dollars a pop for the ‘Big Tanks’.
The four Crockers shown here were owned by an Australian collector, Brendon of 1346 Venice. The three painted bikes have since been sold overseas. The unpainted fourth is an accurate replica built from scratch by local metal magician Jol Marks on the NSW Central Coast.
