Creative Immersion

dvard Munch’s famous depiction of a figure caught in mid-scream (below) represents a universal anxiety about life and death; it’s an image made (‘Skrik’ in Norwegian) will be showcased along with over 200 works from the artist’s estate in the Munch Museum’s new home in Oslo, Norway. Slated to open in October 2021, the museum was designed by Estudio Herreros as a tower that hovers 60m above the Bjørvika bay. The facade is clad in recycled, perforated aluminium panels that make the structure a striking landmark in the Norwegian capital, while creating a well-insulated building that screens sunlight effectively. Low-carbon concrete and recycled steel were also used in its construction.
