BREGUET: CLASSICISM AT ITS BEST

It’s no exaggeration to say that Abraham-Louis Breguet might be one of the greatest watchmakers of all time, and that his contributions have left a mark on not just Breguetthe company, but also the entire watchmaking history since 1775. Breguet is credited for inventions such as the tourbillon, the natural escapement, as well as the gong spring; his first great breakthrough was the self-winding watch in 1780, when he devised a system with a weight that acted like a pendulum inside a pocket watch. Its design has influenced the industry to such an extent that Breguet hands and Breguet numerals remain very much part of our watchmaking vocabulary today. Despite the difficulties that the world has experienced in 2020, Breguet still managed to come out with novelties which show the maison’s vast technical abilities.
