Domingo Hindoyan has heard of Tranmere Rovers FC, and I’ll be honest, I did not see that coming. True, Hindoyan’s predecessor as chief conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Vasily Petrenko, was a fan of Liverpool Football Club, and one naturally – lazily – assumes that a native of Venezuela will have his own views on the beautiful game, Merseyside-style. But to look beyond the Reds and the Toffees takes more than a superficial engagement with Scousedom.
