Upgrading valves on an Avon Redcrest

We inherited a 1976 Avon Redcrest made from Hypalon, which is a tough rubberised fabric, but the Leafield A4 inflation valves with rubber bungs were soft and sticky and no longer airtight. Everyone assured us that Avon Hypalon boats really do last a lifetime so we decided to upgrade the valves.
