ROUGH PATCH

Pulling the wig down over my scalp, it looked horrendous.

I was only eight or nine, but I could tell instantly that I hated it.

You see, I’d had alopecia since I was a baby, and after years of hiding my patches with bandanas, my parents decided to buy me a brown wig.

This was nearly 20 years ago, and despite paying through the roof for it, you could tell it was fake.

However, I was desperate to try anything I could.

My hair would grow thin and sparse and every year, it
