aving heard it claimed that woolly bear caterpillars in autumn predict the nature of the coming winter, and having noticed an unusual abundance of woolly bears marching around our place in recent days, I decided to conduct a survey. I wanted to see what the insects were saying about the cold spell expected to arrive in our neighborhood in November
