Mark Hearld

Mark Hearld is an artist in daily search of joy – and he finds it. Whether it is talking about his delight in the natural world and his latest muse – his new dog, Brio – or how he finds inspiration in his shared studio space, his curiosity and creative determination shines through.

That the artist-designer refuses to wait for the muse to strike is a trait that has propelled him through his successful career to date. Born in York in 1974, Mark studied illustration at Glasgow School of Art before an MA in natural history illustration at the Royal College of Art, which has led him to make work in various media that explore a fascination with nature.

It is this work ethic that has also guarded him against the creativity stifling effects of lockdown.
