A pet peeve of mine when it comes to optical equipment is modern advertising. An internet search will inundate you with terms such as HD glass, fully multicoated, low dispersion, colour fidelity and a myriad of other terms that really offer no guarantee as to the quality of the product being advertised.
I have been burnt a number of times in my younger days when buying optics advertised as being ‘superior’ and which turned out to be total rubbish, so that now I have a healthy scepticism for advertising claims. Product reviews have also been of limited use, as there is always a degree of opinion and preference, which are hard to quantify.
Maybe I am being unfair as, in reality, how does a person quantify quality? There does not seem to be a set of standards to compare products and give objective, unbiased results. With this in mind, when I was asked to evaluate the Delta Optical Titanium
