HYUNDAI KONA ELECTRIC FROM $60,740

Kona electric is Hyundai’s first battery-powered SUV. Prices start at $60,740 for the Elite. Highlander, which we’re testing here, is $65,290.

The 2.0-litre petrol-powered Kona Elite starts at $31,600. Highlander is $38,000.

So you’re paying close to twice the price to go EV.

Note that these prices are for the 2020 model; the 2021 update, due as we went to press, will be slightly more expensive.
