In the Company of Bees

his photo essay contains images from, a collaborative work by artist Anne Noble, gallery director Zara Stanhope and designer Anna Brown. A review of can be found in the books section of this magazine, on p. 92. As Stanhope explains in the book’s introduction, Noble has a long history with bees, both in her art-making and in her life. Her investigations into bees spanned more than six years and resulted in several photographic series, exhibitions in France and Australia, and an educational project that put apiscopes — observational beehives — into two schools in Wellington.
