If the experience of Lincoln Wheelers is any measure, the surge of people getting onto bikes through the pandemic has translated into a boost in bike club membership.
“In the space of a year we would usually get five new members, and a couple would leave – but since the restrictions were lifted we’ve added at least 30 newcomers,” says John Fielding, its club secretary. “We were quite a strong club already, with around 170 members. The new intake is a mixture of people who started cycling in the lockdowns and accomplished riders looking to get more out of their riding.”
