NYMR’S ‘NEW NORMAL’

After the torrid time that railway preservation has endured over the past 18 months, a season of autumn steam galas was just the thing it needed to give everyone a lift.

So how about celebrating the best of which the movement is capable, by bringing together two new-build steam locomotives on one of our premier heritage lines as part of an 11-engine line-up with all of the Big Four, BR and industrial steam represented?

That was what the North Yorkshire Moors Railway delivered for its annual steam gala on September 23-26.
