TIP: Nola recommends trying the folded whipstitched edge. It is perfect for round or oval mats and rugs. The wool she chose was too thin to hook with, but perfect for this edge technique!

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS

□ 16" x 18" rectangle monks cloth, linen, or burlap for rug foundation □ yard medium gray wool for ground □ 5 – ¼" strips various brown wools for tree trunks □ 3 – ¼" strips various green wools for each tree (15 strips total) □ yard total of various medium light gray wools for sky □ 1¼" x 32" strip of cotton or lightweight wool for binding □ 5 small ½" sparkle pom-poms in various colors □ Thread in medium gray for attaching pom-poms □ Tapestry needle □ Sharpie marker □ Size 8 or 12 perle cotton to coordinate with binding fabric □ Hook □ Hooking frame or hoop □ Wool cutter (optional)
