Lytton is a small town in the Canadian province of British Columbia, home to a few hundred people and close to reserves where between 1,500 and 2,000 First Nations residents live.
In June, a temperature of 49.6C was recorded there – the highest temperature ever recorded in Canada. The next evening, a wildfire started.
