ecently, Swedish scientists were astonished to find migrating birds flying up to 8700m above sea level – that’s almost as high as Mt Everest. Ornithologists at Lund University attached tiny data-loggers to snipes and songbirds that migrate more than 6000km from Swedish breeding grounds to Africa every autumn, before returning to southern Europe
