GRONHOLM PULLS A LATE JOKER TO SNATCH PORTUGUESE WIN

Although Niclas Gronholm finished the opening day at Montalegre in Portugal second in the qualifying standings, the Finn felt that the best speed was yet to be extracted from the GRX-SET Hyundai i20 and that he wasn’t in the position on pace alone.

That was a fair assessment, as the winner of the previous two World Rallycross Championship rounds Johan Kristoffersson had suffered a puncture in the opening session, dropping him down the order.
