The Way It Was

THIS PAST AUGUST, Billy Corgan brought his brand of NWA wrestling to what was seemingly the most unlikely of places—an art deco ballroom in a hotel in downtown St. Louis—for the National Wrestling Alliance’s 73rd anniversary show, featuring Trevor Murdoch’s victory over Nick Aldis for the NWA World heavyweight crown. But even before all those packages aired on NWA Powerrr in the weeks leading up to the show, those with a knowledge of wrestling history knew the location was far from unlikely. Instead, it meant that the NWA was coming home.
