The Hunt/Fish Paradigm
A WISE PERSON once wrote these profound words: “Education is important, but hunting and fishing is importanter.”
Few of us would argue the point.
Education, then hunting and fishing, are all words that go together. In general vernacular, hunting and fishing are used together as seamlessly as salt and pepper or even peas and carrots.
For a group of Bassmaster Elite Series professionals, the two words are so interchangeable and important(er), they believe their success would be much less without the relationship.
“I couldn’t fish if it wasn’t for deer hunting,” Jason Christie said.
That strong statement is virtually mirrored by Greg Hackney and Clifford Pirch. The trio are noted as exceptional anglers. Between them they own 12 Bassmaster wins, 15 second-place finishes, 25 Bassmaster Classic appearances and an Angler of the Year title, and Pirch is one of less than a handful of anglers to win three U.S. Open championships.
