HALLOWEEN KILLS 2021
Curtis is back as Laurie Strode, following on from the fiery climax of 2018’s Halloween sequel.
“I wanted to make sure that if I did another , which I never thought I would do, that it had something to say. And I think David [] has done something with this new trilogy… the first one [ Halloween], of course being about trauma. What happens to someone in trauma, and how do you reclaim your power? How does a take back her power? What does trauma really do to someone? And so I felt like it was an extraordinary point of view. And of course, [] a sort of communal rage against the machine – that the system is broken, and the only one that’s going to fix it is us. We’re in a different time now. We are in a very, very challenging time as a society. We are furious. Trolls. Rage. People are so angry. We’re seeing it everywhere. I think, when we look back in a distant time, we’re going to look back on these movies as prescient, bell-ringing] of social change in a big way. And I think the rage and fear-based mob mentality in this movie… again, I think we’re going to look back, because this was written way before all of the [] uprisings. [] as the 2018 movie was written way before MeToo and all of the female trauma. And it simply dovetails to my favourite Pretenders-Chrissie Hynde song [], which goes, ‘Bring on the revolution, I want to die for something.’ That’s Jamie! I listen to that song, I weep. Because I’m like, ‘Bring it on. I want to die for something. I want to die for something I believe in. I want to die for something I’ve created. I want to go out… trying to manifest change.’ As for next year’s ? It’s going to fuck with you. It’s so, so deep.”
