THE GLOBAL coronavirus pandemic remains firmly in our minds, particularly for the tragic number of daily fatalities, months of lockdowns, social distancing and many other generally bad news stories.

Yet, while much of the population was complaining about not being able to go to the pub or that they were bored with being stuck at home, one sector of our population had never been so busy – the NHS workers.

Support for them grew to a massive extent with seemingly endless numbers of well-wishers trying to bring a bit of cheer to the exhausted staff. One of them was skipper Haydn Ross, who came up with the idea of offering some free charter
